Abstract

Recently, in Tianjin, which blends classical charm with modern prosperity, the 2024 Food Innovation Development Young Scientists Forum and Food Industry Technology Achievement Exchange Conference successfully brought together young food scientists, researchers, and industry elites from across the country, filled with vitality and creativity.

Recently, in Tianjin, which blends classical charm with modern prosperity, the 2024 Food Innovation Development Young Scientists Forum and Food Industry Technology Achievement Exchange Conference successfully took place, gathering young food scientists, researchers, and industry elites from across the country. This vibrant and creative forum was hosted by Tianjin Food Group and Tianjin University of Science and Technology, organized by the Editorial Office of 'Food Research and Development' at Tianjin Food Research Institute, the School of Food Science and Engineering at Tianjin University of Science and Technology, and the School of Bioengineering at Tianjin University of Science and Technology. It was supported by the Beijing Food Society, Tianjin Food Industry Association, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Food Industry Production-Education Alliance, and Tianjin Analysis Testing Association. Ten universities including China Agricultural University, Beijing Technology and Business University College of Food and Health, Bohai University, Tianjin Agricultural College, Tianjin University of Commerce, Tianjin University, Hebei University of Technology, Hebei Agricultural University, Hebei University of Science and Technology, and Bozhou College co-organized the event. Bi Guosheng, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Tianjin Food Group attended the forum and delivered a speech. Relevant officials from the Publicity Department of Tianjin Municipal Committee and related departments from the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau attended the opening ceremony. More than 300 experts and scholars from major universities across the country as well as research institutes and food-related enterprises attended to discuss new achievements, trends, and collaborations in food-related fields. Wang Qi, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of 'Food Research and Development', hosted the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Bi Guosheng represented the hosting unit to deliver a speech congratulating on the forum's convening while welcoming experts who traveled from afar. He stated that in the wave of continuous innovation in food science and technology development, youth power is always a vigorous driving force for industry progress. The innovative spirit and research achievements of young scholars play an irreplaceable role in promoting technological advancement as well as transformation upgrades in the food industry. This Young Scientists Forum will build an open, inclusive platform for communication where experts can fully showcase their talents while exchanging ideas.

Lu Fuping, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee & President of Tianjin University of Science & Technology expressed in his speech that this forum has built a communication platform for scientific research innovation achievements to meet industrial technology demands. In future endeavors to stimulate new momentum for food industry development through technological innovation; empowering transformation upgrades with new productive forces as well as disruptive technologies; promoting high-quality development within food industries to meet people's needs for a better life.

During the opening ceremony, Professor Wang Yanbo from Beijing Technology & Business University along with Professor Cao Jijuan from Dalian Minzu University presented 'Outstanding Graduate Forum Awards' to eight graduate representatives at the 2024 Food Innovation Development Young Scientists Forum.

The forum initiated a call for innovative achievements in food industry targeting domestic food colleges/universities; research institutes; enterprise researchers which received enthusiastic responses. A total collection yielded over 200 results with 43 outstanding innovative achievements selected that have potential for practical application within food industries. These results cover multiple fields such as food technology; nutrition health; intelligent manufacturing showcasing China's recent innovative strength & accomplishments within its food industry.

Wang Mufeng Secretary & Chairman at Tianjin Food Research Institute announced results during forum's opening ceremony while also declaring establishment for third Youth Editorial Board for 'Food Research & Development'. Professor Wu Wei from Qingdao Agricultural University spoke on behalf representing third Youth Editorial Board members. The formal establishment not only marks a solid step forward for 'Food Research & Development' in absorbing fresh talent while promoting growth among young professionals but also indicates new developmental opportunities regarding content innovation; quality enhancement; academic influence expansion.

In main forum session hosted jointly by Professor Du Ming from Dalian Polytechnic University along with Professor Du Xinjun from Tianjin University of Science & Technology; Professors Wang Shuo (Nankai University), Chen Fang (China Agricultural University), Liu He (Bohai University), Zhang Min (Tianjin Agricultural College), Mao Xiangchao (Ocean University of China), Fang Yapeng (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) delivered exciting presentations respectively analyzing current status/challenges faced by food industries sharing latest research findings/experiences providing attendees cutting-edge academic perspectives along with profound insights into industry dynamics. These reports not only broadened participants’ knowledge horizons but also provided valuable ideas/inspiration towards innovative developments within food industries.

This forum themed 'New Quality Empowerment: Opening New Era for Intelligent Manufacturing in Foods' gathered numerous experts; young scholars alongside entrepreneur representatives discussing new achievements/trends/collaborations within foods/related fields injecting fresh vitality into development processes surrounding food industries through deep exchanges/collaborations among young scientists facilitating conversion/application processes regarding scientific outcomes accelerating marketization processes concerning novel technologies within foods sector. The Tianjin Food Research Institute will actively contribute towards building an innovative ecosystem within field concerning food science/technology through enhancing research levels/expanding cooperation networks/promoting outcome conversions.
